SSOCNote is a local-first study app. This page explains how documents, annotations, recordings, and AI-related data may be stored on-device or sent to external processing services.

1. Service overview

SSOCNote is a local-first study workspace that supports PDF annotation, lecture recording, lecture summaries, flashcards, and study sheet generation.

Core study data is primarily stored on the user’s device. Data may be sent to external AI services only when the user explicitly triggers AI-powered features.

2. Data stored on the device

  • Imported PDF files and blank PDF notebooks
  • Ink data, shapes, text boxes, and inserted images
  • Lecture audio files and transcribed text
  • Lecture summaries, flashcards, and study sheets
  • Folder structure, app settings, and tool preferences
  • Temporary rendering files and AI text cache

3. Data that may be sent to external processing services

When a user runs an AI feature, selected content may be sent to third-party processing services such as the OpenAI API.

  • Lecture audio, or text derived from that audio
  • Text extracted from PDFs
  • Text required to generate lecture summaries
  • Text required to generate flashcards or study sheets
  • Selected portions of files explicitly chosen by the user
SSOCNote does not run AI features silently in the background. External processing may happen only when a user explicitly requests transcription, summarization, flashcard generation, or study sheet generation.

4. Permissions

Microphone access

Used for lecture recording.

Photo or image access

Used when inserting, saving, or replacing images.

Screen and system-audio capture permission

On macOS, when a user chooses device-audio recording, SSOCNote uses Apple’s official screen-selection UI to begin system-audio capture.

5. Retention and deletion

Local study data may remain on the device until the user deletes it directly.

  • Documents, lecture notes, flashcards, and study sheets can be deleted individually
  • AI text cache can be cleared in settings
  • Temporary files can be cleaned up in settings
  • All local data can be deleted in settings
The current release is local-first. If cloud sync is added in the future, retention and deletion rules for cloud-stored data will be added to this page.

6. User rights and choices

  • Users can delete part or all local data directly in the app.
  • Privacy, data deletion, and account-related questions can be sent to the contacts below.
  • If account-based features are formally introduced, we will publish a dedicated process for access, correction, and deletion requests.
